Child safety lock for windows and balcony doors

The key-operated safety lock for windows and balcony doors helps prevent unintended or unauthorised opening of the sash. It serves as an additional child safety lock in homes and is also useful in nurseries, schools, healthcare facilities and care facilities.

The lock has a plastic construction and is fitted to the existing window sash and frame. On tilt-and-turn windows and balcony doors, it blocks the sash from swinging open while still allowing it to tilt for ventilation.

Ventilation even with the window locked

You do not need to unlock the lock to ventilate in the tilt position. On a tilt-and-turn sash, the tilt position remains available after locking. To swing the sash open, you need to unlock the lock with the key.

Which windows and doors is the lock suitable for?

The lock is intended for uPVC windows, modern Euro-profile timber windows and corresponding balcony doors. Correct installation depends on the profile shape and sufficient space to secure the lock body and its counterpart.

It can also be used on many older timber windows. For these windows, we recommend checking whether it can be fitted using the installation instructions before purchasing.

When replacing your windows, you can remove and reuse the lock, provided the new window profile allows it to be installed correctly.

Installation instructions

The lock body is secured to the bottom of the window sash on the side opposite the hinges. The counterpart is fitted to the frame. Both parts are attached with the supplied screws as shown in the installation diagram.

1. Attach the lock body to the sash. With the window open, secure it using two supplied 3.9 × 45 mm screws. Position the lock so that the recessed screw hole faces downwards, as shown in the installation diagram.
2. Mark the mounting points for the counterpart. Close the window and use the pencil to mark the mounting points on the frame through the elongated holes in the lock body.
3. Attach the counterpart to the frame. Open the window again and secure the counterpart at the marked points using the remaining two screws. The counterpart is symmetrical, so its orientation does not matter.
4. Use the spacer if required by the profile. If the window profile requires it, place the supplied spacer between the frame and the lock counterpart.
5. Check correct operation. Close the sash and press it against the frame so that both parts of the lock engage. Turn the key to lock it. Check that it blocks the sash from swinging open and allows tilt ventilation on a tilt-and-turn window or door.
